ok I figured it out... with my tiny bubble necklace. this reminds me of honeycomb cereal. it's one style I wear all the time and it can soon be found at RedBrickArt gallery in ventura! yay!

I knew I hated vegas

Vegas baby vegas.... why do people really think it's so awesome? I lost money and without even gambling!

I just did the ACRE show and all in all I heard it was slower than normal but mine was completely awful. I know I am supposed to be happy and peppy here at blogspot but f- that. I'm totally bummed.

on the positive side I met some amazing people and though I felt as though I was in a christopher guest movie- I loved all that I met. I want to thank everyone that felt bad for me and tried to help me!

finger polkadots

phew so patchwork is over- and it was a huge success! thank you everyone at patchwork for that!!! my feet are still recovering- I need more comfortable shoes. or I need to suddenly be 18 again. since option 2 isn't happening, ugly comfort here I come!

the other thing I learned while at patchwork was that while needle felting I should wear something on my finger... I looked at them and they were FULL of brown dots- I think I tattooed my fingertips with yarn. is that possible? well anyway I love the process and I just need to fine tune it so I am not injured for life.

I will post more tomorrow... that's a lot of pictures for today. They all have handmade sterling backs so that they are reversible- which I am pretty happy with. soon I will have some for sale in my etsy shop.

I saw some GREAT work at Patchwork and met some awesome people so I hope to find their sites today to share with you.

more time consuming things

so I learned how to needlefelt (well my friend heather showed me- not sure I learned) I made a few "beads" that I want to use in silver and I can't figure out how to get them into the silver... any suggestions? here they are: each an inch or less...



I also photographed a few new things for my upcoming show... www.patchworkshow.com it's this weekend in santa ana (sunday) and it should be HOT out but also fun. I get to share again with my friend Candy who I love! she is such a talented knitter- but she can do ANYTHING. it's amazing.

Renegade

well I got in! I get to go to san francisco and hope the people in that city like my stuff! (and buy it of course) I was 1/2 hoping I didn't get in because I needed a refund on the $ but, here's hoping it was worth it!

I am really looking forward to spending time with my friend kelley while I am there and she has so nicely extended her home to me. she doesn't know what she's in for... it's a lot of crap to put in the house.

I am also looking forward to my mission burrito mmmmmm elfarolito. OMG they have a website now! www.elfarolitoinc.com maybe they aren't as good and down and dirty as they used to be. uh oh. I get the super burrito. it's humongous and yes I eat the whole thing every time. I will take photos then.

on another note my needle felting materials came in and I hope I can make something cool out of it... because right now- not so much enjoying what came of my last experiment. the needle felting stuff looks great but pairing it with silver is causing me pain.

anyway off to craft/create/eat.... or do something.

happy mother's day

to my mom!! ( and any other moms out there...) even though it's a hallmark holiday, you still deserve it.

here is what I made for my mother and it actually got there in time!




it's super long so it fits over her head and doesn't have a clasp. she said it was a machaiah. In my terms that meant she was happy that it was easy to use. I think that's yiddish for blessing.

sometimes you just forget

I totally forgot to post anything from unique LA- like photos... that might be because I didn't take any. ooops. well I did enjoy spending time with my friends and there was tons of cool stuff there...

today I am doing my least favorite thing. fixing someone elses jewelry. I know all of you jewelers get this from your friends "can you fix this for me?" argh and I can never say no. so here I am fixing stuff.

on the upside I am going to learn needle felting today- that should be fun..

OH and I got accepted to the MSIA (metalsmithsinaction) team on etsy- yay I am actually a metalsmith!

recovery

I never knew how much energy shows take out of me. I wanted to sleep all day today. Basically I did. Setting up and breaking down are the least of it. Standing all day, and talking to people who want jewelry for $5 is super draining. Does no one understand what labor is? I don't want to pay myself $5 an hour- but apparently that's what people think we should make. I don't think $65 is a lot for a handcrafted mosaic necklace but apparently unique los angeles- it is. Sadly I didn't do too well this weekend- and it seems neither did many people.

So instead of making anything new I sat on the computer today and then I cooked up a fresh fava bean/potato salad, a vegetable couscous dish (with FRESH garbanzo beans- they taste TOTALLY different) and borani for dinner. For a "light" dinner it took me quite some time and every dish in the house.. But it was delicious and not the same thing I eat every day! if you want any recipes let me know... I'll post em.

look at all these inspirational gorgeous faceted cabs just sitting there in bags... and of course I am inspired into non-action- I mean I don't want to waste them on just ANYTHING....

I picked these lovelies out in India when I was there and now I just want to put them in my mouth like a two year old.

Procrastination

it's the name of the game. the game I play every day. let's play another game... a giveaway game! if you can correctly guess the name of the next two shows I am in, and who I am sharing with, and what my favorite material is- you could win something of my choosing- probably earrings- but it could be a set of cards I make or something I knitted... The catch is that you have to also follow me on twitter and on this blog. you'll have to look at my regular website too probably. then you have to comment here- and the first correct answer wins and the next few correct answers get put in a drawing and someone other than me will choose the winner.

ok well that's fun... now I guess I will go back to my boring life of listening to TV and making jewelry.

I opened em up and realized that I only want one of them, the one I thought I wanted in the first place... I already used that one on a piece and when it's finished I will post it.

I also used my new stones today- just a few of them.

I wonder if this blog should be called procrastinating. It's monday and I have only a few days until my show this weekend, www.uniquelosangeles.com. (I have free passes too so feel free to contact me if you want to come down), and instead of making things, here I am watching Tivo and writing my blog.

This weekend I was so happy I got to see my friends from Australia whom I haven't seen in 10 years... (at least) so sunday we made pizzas and drank wine and I didn't do any work for my show. Also a friend from NY was in town so I got to see her too and saturday we all went to the beach and walked around. In the evening was a friends birthday so I went to their house... no work done.


getting the drift? what can I do today to avoid work? comment with any suggestions- though I don't think I need any help I can just stare into space for hours...

morning sunshine

ugh. my inherited cat woke me at 4:45am attempting to protect the house from other cats. that noise he makes is insane! you know, the one that is a cross between a screaming infant and what you would think a ghost would sound like and a cat. So I figured I would get up and face the day a bit early....My dog on the other hand thought that was a bad idea and went back to sleep. I tried desperately to get her to go out, but the sprinklers were on. I basically threw her in it and she just stood there getting wet. Now I have a drowned rat, not a Maltese for a pet-an angry one at that.

While I was procrastinating yesterday, I got this awesome dress yesterday from my friend.


now I don't look like that in it and, it's a different color combination but it's super cool. (and she sizes generously so I can wear a SMALL!!!)

Ok I just tried to explain blogging and twitter to my mom. I don't think I was successful, especially since I am not too sure myself what the point is.

Anyway off to make some jewelry- I swear.

it's like your vitamins

you should do it every day. Blogging that is.

I'm super excited to begin to get started becoming motivated. In other words- I'm not yet motivated. But I have some great reasons to be. For example I have some upcoming shows, but more importantly I just got some amazing stones I ordered from India! They are all interesting cuts similar to this:





when I have photos of all of them laid out I'll show you- most of them are pretty beautiful.

I did get motivated enough to make a pair of earrings with some awesome smoky (ey) -can no one tell me which way to spell that?- topaz I got in India. Well I just wire wrapped it because it was so pretty I didn't want to hide them in something. you can buy them here.



also yesterday I spent time with my friend candy and she knitted my dog a little sweater, and also knitted some dog and cat toys she is super talented. we are gonna have a store for our dog and cat stuff soon! (I make pet ID tags) we need a name- any suggestions?

well i suppose I should do SOMETHING away from the computer today.

Happy earthday everyone! today I decided I am finally going to write my blog. I started awhile ago and then I didn't do it. So I'm BAAAAAAAAAAAACK.

Last night I went to this restaurant wurstkuche again for the second time in a week! You would think I eat meat. Both times the veggie sausage was not so great but they told me last night that they are changing their veggie options next week! so that's good because it's cheap and a fun place to go!

ok I'm off to go eat breakfast and make stuff and enjoy earthday! maybe I will buy one of these for my earthday contribution.
