What is your handmade homework? what do you do differently to push yourself? The holidays are swiftly approaching and I know that should be my impetus, but I'm still here in my studio, looking at my same old things wondering how to get motivated. The increasing price of my materials is not helping... maybe I will try to think of new materials to use and THAT will be my handmade homework.... I think I'll go eat.

handmade homework
Sometimes you just have to push yourself to do something. You know, give yourself some sort of incentive, even if making things is your passion. Sometimes you just get bored, or tired of making the same thing. I know Etsy teams have challenges like the CCCOE team that I (kind of) belong to used to have a monthly challenge (do they anymore?), and Etsy metal has "Ring a Day" here is how they describe it "This is an exercise in creative exploration. The rules are simple: create ring every day for the entire year of 2010 out of anything, no matter where you are." I don't know how many people made it this far (it is november and all) and well that's a bit much for me.... but here are some I found that I like a lot on their flickr set:

happy mother's day
to my mom!! ( and any other moms out there...) even though it's a hallmark holiday, you still deserve it.
here is what I made for my mother and it actually got there in time!

it's super long so it fits over her head and doesn't have a clasp. she said it was a machaiah. In my terms that meant she was happy that it was easy to use. I think that's yiddish for blessing.
today I am making a few more necklaces for my upcoming show next weekend. www.patchworkshow.com. it's a drive to get to in santa ana but last show I did very well and I get to share with my friend Candy again! (pinkcandystudios.com)

sometimes you just forget
I totally forgot to post anything from unique LA- like photos... that might be because I didn't take any. ooops. well I did enjoy spending time with my friends and there was tons of cool stuff there...
today I am doing my least favorite thing. fixing someone elses jewelry. I know all of you jewelers get this from your friends "can you fix this for me?" argh and I can never say no. so here I am fixing stuff.
on the upside I am going to learn needle felting today- that should be fun..
OH and I got accepted to the MSIA (metalsmithsinaction) team on etsy- yay I am actually a metalsmith!
ok off to finish things and stuff.

pretty new stones
look at all these inspirational gorgeous faceted cabs just sitting there in bags... and of course I am inspired into non-action- I mean I don't want to waste them on just ANYTHING....
I picked these lovelies out in India when I was there and now I just want to put them in my mouth like a two year old.
also I wanted to show a new mosaic piece I made with my new hammers and another new stone:

myfriendroze
so i don't know what to do here in blogland but I looked around and it just seems like people just write whatever they want. how do you get people to read it?
well anyway pictured above are my new pieces! They are made from bubblewrap and are made out of sterling silver. (two have stones in them obviously)
I am selling my jewelry that I make at www.myfriendroze.com until little-corners.com is active. I would also really like to have a rep again but I don't know how to go about finding one... does anyone know? does anyone read these things???
